Datuk Seri Dr. Haji Dzulkefly Ahmad is a prominent Malaysian politician and seasoned toxicologist currently serving his second term as the nation’s Minister of Health. Renowned for his evidence-based, data-driven approach, Dr. Dzulkefly is a pivotal figure in modernizing Malaysia’s public healthcare infrastructure.
Key Pillars of His Leadership
- The Academic & Toxicologist: Before entering politics as the long-serving Member of Parliament (MP) for Kuala Selangor, he earned his doctorate in Toxicology from Imperial College London and worked as a medical faculty lecturer, bringing deep scientific expertise to federal policy.
Aggressive Public Health Initiatives: To curb the rising tide of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes among youths, he has championed aggressive public health measures, including the national “War on Sugar” campaign and increased sugar-sweetened beverage taxes.
